Bring on the Colour for Spring 2014

Having lulled away the last few weeks of summer, there is no denying that a slight chill has crept into the air reminding us all that autumn is gently knocking on our doors.
Although I embrace autumn with its crisp mornings, beautiful auburn colours and the ever drawing nights bringing about a feeling of nostalgia.  Before I get out and dust off my autumn/winter wardrobe, which there is no denying I love with its cosy chunky knits, wonderful classic tweeds and wellys... I thought I would spoil myself by having one last look back and reminding myself of the hazy days of spring and summer, with vibrant colours filling our rider and spectator wardrobes

Gone were the days where colourful jodhpurs were only for the children amongst us and we welcomed in with open arms... colour!

I loved the spring 2013 collection by Ralph Lauren which wonderfully collaborated the use of colour to create a modern twist on the classic and timeless equestrian style ... The mix of leather tweed and suede give a practical utilitarian feel to fashionable, flattering and stylish pieces. I particularly love the ponchos over coloured jodpurs for that cool daytime feel - as if you are ready to jump on a horse at any given moment! The bright scarves really set off the outfits and look fab tied in pirate style headband...or for the less daring just around the neck in a pussy bow or cravat style.

Burberry "English Rose" Collection

London Fashion week has drawn to a close and headed off to Milan, so what was our favourite show of the season for Spring Summer 2014?

Not only does their knight in shining armour logo immediately draw us in, but the British brand Burberry, never disappoints in the fashion stakes since Christopher Baileys took the reins as Creative Director. This season, Burberry knocked our socks off once again with their elegant, chic collection aptly named "English Rose"
Christopher Bailey's translation saw barely-there chiffon, laces and cashmere blended in an edible palate of sorbet pastel tones. Oversized woollen coats with embroidered detailing add to the classic yet modern tones Burberry does so well. Pencil skirts slit riskily high at the back add a racy vibe with retro sunglasses and loose clutches all culminated in a high end, sophisticated yet girly, fun and fresh feel.

I particularly feel this collection is reminiscent of spring countryside walks with the use of delicate vintage lace and beautiful fresh spring hues, you can almost smell the scent of the roses as every model wafts down the runway in one of these beautiful ensembles. I will defiantly be sporting a lace pencil skirt and chiffon blouse next spring, perfect for the members enclosure!
